Cricket is a sport of elegance, strategy, and raw power. But at its heart, it’s a battle between bat and ball. Today, we’ll look at the top batsmen in the world who have dominated the entire batting field in cricket:

Don Bradman

Sir Donald George Bradman also known as ‘The Don’ is the greatest batsmen of all time. The Australian cricketer was widely recognized and praised for his test batting average, which is 99.94. 

Brandsman has always disliked fame but it didn’t stop Australia from treating him like a celebrity. In his 20 years of cricket career, he has achieved the most valuable titles given to a batsman.

Brian Lara

Brian Lara is a former Trinidadian cricketer and one of the best batsmen in the history of cricket. He is the owner of some of the unbreakable records including the  501 score (not out) in first class cricket. 

Another interesting thing about Lara is he was popularly known as ‘the prince of port of Spain’ or ‘the prince’. He is also one of the three to receive the award of  ‘BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year’,

Sachin Tendulkar

The Indian cricketer and the former captain of the Indian national team is Sachin Tendulkar. He is widely recognized as one of the best batsmen in the world. Also, Sachin is the only cricketer who scored the highest runs in ODI and Test cricket (18,000 and 15,000 runs respectively). 

He started cricket at the age of eleven and played his first test cricket against pakistan at the age of 16. 

Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards

Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards is one of the best batsmen in the world of all time. He represented the west indies cricket team between 1974 and 1991. Also, Sir Richards was part of the west indies team which won the 1975 and 1979 world cup and were the runner up in 1983 world cup. 

Later in 2009, Richards was included in the ICC cricket hall of fame. 

Ricky Ponting

Ricky Thomas Ponting or shortly known as Ricky Ponting. He is currently the Australian cricket coach and was formerly a cricketer. He was also one of the most successful cricketer Ponting holds the record of most victories in ODI, test matches, and world cup.   

Under his captaincy, the Australian team won 2003 and 2007 ICC cricket world cup, 2006 and 2009 ICC champions trophies. 

Rahul Dravid

The former cricketer and the ‘the wall’ of Indian cricket team Rahul Sharad Dravid is now an indian cricket coach. He is also the one who helped India to win the first ICC champions trophy. Dravid is also the fourth highest run scorer in test cricket.

Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar are the highest scoring partners in the current time with 6,920 runs combined. 

Virat Kohli 

Virat Kohli or the ‘King Kohli’ is the number one Indian cricketer. He is the former Indian cricket team captain and is part of the Indian team for the upcoming ICC T20 World cup. 

In 2020 Kohli was awarded as the best male cricketer of the decade by the International Cricket Council. He also owns the record of most runs in T20 and IPL. Kohli has also been playing in the IPL for  Royal Challengers Bengaluru. 

Steve Smith 

Steve Smith is an Australian International cricketer and former captain of Australian cricket team. Smith was also part of Australian teams that won the 2015 and 2023 world cup, 2021 T20 world cup and the finals of 2023 world test championship. 

Other than world cups, Smith was awarded as the best test player of the year in 2015 and 2017, Australian test player of the year in 2015 and 2018. 

Sunil Gavaskar

The former Indian cricket team captain who represented India and Bombay from 1971 to 1987. He was also known as the best opening batsman of all time. Sunil’s ability to counter the fearsome fast bowling attacks of the 1970s and 80s, especially the legendary West Indies pace bowlers.

He redefined the role of an opening batsman, proving that technique and temperament could defeat even the most extreme bowling attacks.  He is a true cricketing legend whose impact on Indian cricket continues to be felt today.

Sir Jack Hobbs 

An English professional cricketer who played for Surrey county cricket club from 1905 to 1934 is Sir Jack Hobbs. He was known as ‘the master’ and the best cricketer in the history of cricket. 

Besides his batsmanship, he was also the right arm middle pace bowler and an outstanding fielder.  Sir Jack Hobbs named as one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Century.
